Knifey + Spooney, Kingston's finest plant based food purveyors have been in business for 5 years and is a local family business owned and operated by married couple and Chefs, Christina Avery (Spooney) & Radford Cowan (Kniefy) and they occasionally talk their teenagers into helping them in the kitchen.

Knifey + Spooney specialize in offering plant based cuisine, striving to deliver food that is as seasonal and local as possible, respecting the earth and our bodies with ingredients that tread lightly.

Christina and Radford are “foodies” and long time vegans themselves, and they were getting frustrated by the lack of selection in Kingston. They felt many of the local restaurants lacked vegan options and that fries or a side salad just weren't cutting it. With a shared sense of social justice and passion for the environment, Radford and Christina bring sustainable plant-based cuisine to Kingston and are serving the growing demand for plant based lifestyles.

In addition to offering delicious food they also offer cooking classes, catering, and pop-up events, such as the Memorial Centre Farmer’s Market on Sundays . You will also occasionally find their products in some of our local restaurant’s plant based options - we tried their “Pork” Boa Buns made with jackfruit featured on the menu at local favorite eatery, Atomica, and trust us, they are incredible!

Christina and Radford love Kingston for the proximity to the water and for the old architecture. Also, for such a small city, they appreciate that is an incredibly active arts, cultural and music scene which makes it such a vibrant place to live.

What do they love most about what they do?  “There is nothing better than being able to create a memory that people can look back on for the rest of their lives. Just with one great meal! I can still taste some of the best meals I've ever had!”
